Tough, long-lasting coatings resist abrasion and friction

Wearside Rewinds specialise in restoring worn shafts, pump parts, cylinders, pistons, valves and other expensive machine parts.

Parts being rebuilt are less likely to warp or distort because metal alloy coatings can be applied at temperatures below 500° F (260° C). Furthermore, excellent coating quality is consistently produced because oxy/fuel proportions are automatically maintained.

Our procedures involve cleaning the part and removing old, fatigued metal and all oil and grease - the surface to be rebuilt is then roughened by grit blasting or threading on a lathe.

The coating is then applied with up to 14 pounds of metal being applied per hour - part temperature is maintained between 200° and 500° F (90° - 260°C).

Parts stay relatively cool to prevent warping and the area is built up to slightly larger than final size to allow for finishing.

Finally, either machine or grind the coating to produce the desired degree of smoothness.
